Job summary

CPCD in Colorado Springs is seeking an On Call School Bus Driver to transport students to and from school and activities. You will support the classroom team during downtime and help maintain a safe, orderly environment on the bus.

The role requires CDL with school bus endorsements within two months, a clean driving record, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and current First Aid/CPR certifications. Begin date is December 2; position is on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• Must obtain CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements within two months of employment if not currently held.
• Acceptable driving record based on MVRO prior to employment.
• Knowledge of mechanical operation and daily maintenance checks of a vehicle.
• Ability to lift/carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must have current First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of employment.
• Pre-employment physical, TB test, drug test (including marijuana) and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections to comply with DOT, Colorado DOE and CPCD policies.
• Assist with emergency functions, including evacuations.
• Operate CPCD buses for transporting children.
• Provide safe-behavior guidance to students on the bus.
• Manage students and maintain discipline during transit.
• Complete administrative tasks: seating charts, logs, records, reports.
• Fuel and clean transportation vehicles as needed.
• Communicate with staff via two-way radio; participate in regular training.
• Follow routes safely and on time; support classroom team as needed.
