Job summary

CPCD is seeking an On-Call School Bus Driver to transport children to and from school and activities. The role starts December 2 and requires CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, plus a pre-employment screening and ongoing training.

The position offers an hourly wage of $23.83 and entails daily pre/post trip duties, student management on bus, and collaboration with classroom teams to ensure a safe learning environment. This is an on-call role with a strong service focus.

Qualifications

• Must obtain CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements within two months of employment if not already held.
• Acceptable driving record based on Motor Vehicle Report prior to employment.
• Knowledge of mechanical operation of a vehicle and daily maintenance checks.
• Ability to lift/carry at least 50 pounds.
• Current First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of employment.
• Pre-employment physical, TB screen, drug test (including marijuana), and background check required.
• Must have reliable transportation or valid liability insurance if using personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections to comply with DOT, Colorado Dept. of Education and CPCD policies.
• Drive CPCD buses for transporting children and assist with classroom duties as needed.
• Provide safe behavior directions to students and manage student conduct on the bus.
• Maintain seating charts and document student information, pre/post trip logs, and monthly reports.
• Fuel and clean vehicles; communicate via two-way radio; participate in regular training.
• Develop proactive communication with parents and families and promote parent involvement.
• Collaborate with classroom team to maintain a safe, positive learning environment on bus and in classroom.
• Other duties as assigned.
