Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group is seeking an On Call Recovery Counselor for the Fresno CRT facility. This role supports daily living activities, monitors client participation, and assists with group activities and treatment planning.

The position requires a high school diploma (associate preferred) and CPR/First Aid/ProAct certifications; a CA driver’s license is preferred. On-call coverage evenings and weekends offers opportunities for meaningful impact in a 24/7 inpatient setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum six months of direct care experience in a mental health setting preferred.
• CPR, First Aid and ProAct certifications required within 30 days of employment; CA driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living skills such as grooming, hygiene, and meals.
• Monitor attendance and encourage participation in activities and programs.
• Lead or support group activities and outings, modeling positive interactions.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the medical record and participate in treatment team meetings.

Crisis Residential Treatment Facility (Fresno CRT)

Starting Compensation:

19.08 - 21.08 USD Per Hour

Working Location:

Fresno, CA

Working Hours/Shift:

On Call coverage as needed for PM (2:00pm to 10:30pm), Friday, Saturday, Sunday

What you bring to SBHG:

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) required. Associate degree in a social science field preferred.
• Experience: Six (6) months of direct care experience in a mental health setting preferred. (A non-professional, consumer-directed internship may be substituted.)
• Certifications & Licensure: Valid CPR, First Aid, and ProAct certifications are required within 30 days of employment. Valid California Driver’s License and eligibility to meet agency driving criteria preferred.

• The Recovery Counselor has the primary responsibility for assisting clients with daily living skills, including eating, personal hygiene, grooming, and other care needs.
• Monitors attendance and encourages participation in activities and therapeutic programs using positive motivation and support.
• Helps lead group activities and outings, promotes positive social interaction among clients, and serves as a positive role model.
• Maintains accurate documentation of client participation and responses in the medical record and participates in treatment team meetings as needed.

Division/Program Overview:

• Population Served: Serving adults, ages 18-59
• Facility & Setting: 24/7 inpatient voluntary program, 16-bed facility
• Clinical Services: Rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services
• Length of Stay: 30 day stay
• Skills & Services: Pre-vocational or vocational counseling and medication evaluation and support services.
