Job summary

Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital in Las Vegas, NV seeks an On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct patient care in a behavioral health setting, perform psychiatric assessments, and respond to crises. This flexible role supports the clinical team and ensures a safe, therapeutic environment.

Applicants must hold an active Nevada RN license, BLS/CPR, and have at least one year in psychiatry or behavioral health.

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Minimum one year psychiatric or behavioral health experience.
• Ability to stabilize acute psychotic and non-violent crisis by using accepted intervention techniques.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive physical and psychiatric nursing assessments.
• Administer medications and document patient responses accurately.
• Monitor patient safety, de-escalate crises, and respond to emergencies.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain complete electronic medical records in compliance with mental health regulations.
• Perform suicide assessments and follow suicide precautions.
• Incorporate each patient’s unique needs into individualized care plans.
• Conduct rounds ensuring patient care and safety.
• Demonstrate knowledge of medication management to reduce medical errors.
