Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking an On-Call Permitting Specialist to support the Ecology & Environment team across NY locations including Buffalo.

You will review project scopes, determine applicable permits, and coordinate environmental and regulatory filings to keep projects on schedule. The role requires 3+ years of regulatory permitting experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work with diverse teams, travel as needed, and comply with safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid state driver's license.
• 3+ years of experience obtaining regulatory permits with state, federal and municipal agencies.
• Experience preparing, editing and interpreting studies for regulatory filings.
• Experience working in a team environment on energy sector projects.
• Authorized to work in the United States or able to obtain work authorization; visa sponsorship available.
• Proven track record of workplace safety and compliance with policies.
• Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond typical workweek.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Review project scope and determine applicable permits (municipal, variances, wetland, etc.).
• Coordinate regulatory filings and environmental permits.
• Manage progress against plans and perform risk assessments.
• Verifies compliance with federal, state and local environmental requirements.
• Represent the company at meetings and participate in program planning.
• Review proposed laws/regulations as they apply to operations.
• Oversee SWPPP development and inspections as needed.
• Escalate issues when necessary.
• Support health, safety, and regulatory policies.
