Job summary

WSP is seeking an On-Call Permitting Specialist to support our Ecology & Environment team across New York locations including Horseheads, Corning, Syracuse, Buffalo, and Binghamton. You will review project scope, determine applicable permits, coordinate with state, federal and municipal agencies, ensure regulatory compliance, and participate in project planning and meetings.

The role offers 40 hours per week, on-site at multiple NY locations, with annual compensation $30–$50 per hour, and

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience obtaining regulatory permits with state, federal and municipal agencies to achieve permits to meet project goals and execution schedules.
• Experience preparing, editing and interpreting studies for development, submission and acquisition of certificates or other regulatory filings.
• Experience working in a team environment on energy sector projects, minimizing environmental, visual and customer impacts.
• This position is authorized to work in the United States or eligible for work authorization; visa sponsorship may be available.

Responsibilities

• Review project scope and determine applicable permits.
• Coordinate development and submission of environmental permits with agencies.
• Verify compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Attend project teams and regulatory meetings; support planning and execution.
• Oversee regulatory requirements and inspections beyond construction phase.
