Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking an On-Call Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support for pediatric patients, families, and staff. Shifts include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with on-site chaplaincy services and a $3,000 sign-on bonus (taxable).

The role emphasizes crisis support, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to meet diverse spiritual needs around the clock.

Qualifications

• ACPE-accredited CPE unit required.
• Endorsement from a recognized faith tradition required.
• Bachelor’s degree in theology or related field.
• Experience in pediatric or hospital chaplaincy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual and emotional support during on-call hours.
• Respond to referrals, code events, trauma activations, and urgent requests.
• Offer rituals or prayers while respecting diverse beliefs.
• Collaborate with care teams to integrate spiritual needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct.
• Attend hand-offs with daytime chaplains.
• Provide care across units including ICU and inpatient.
• Support patients, families, and staff during crisis, grief, or loss.
