Job summary

Van Avery Prep in Temecula, California seeks an enthusiastic On The Call Physical Education Substitute Teacher to cover PE classes as needed. You will follow established lesson plans and create a safe, energetic environment for elementary and middle school students during gym, field, or classroom activities.

The role requires adaptability, reliable scheduling, and the ability to deliver long-term plans when assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, physical education, kinesiology, or related field preferred.
• Prior classroom experience with elementary/middle school students is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate physical education activities and safe instructional practices.

Responsibilities

• Follow and implement lesson plans provided by the regular physical education teacher.
• Lead age-appropriate physical education activities while promoting participation and teamwork.
• Maintain a positive, nurturing environment conducive to learning and physical activity.
• Supervise students in gymnasium, fields, classrooms and other areas.
• Monitor safe use of equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Keep spaces and equipment orderly and ready for use.
• Develop and deliver lesson plans for long-term assignments aligned with curriculum goals.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, faculty, and leadership.
• Uphold school values by promoting respect, responsibility, and inclusion.
