Job summary

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe seeks a Substitute (On-Call) Food Service Provider to support the ECLC nutrition program. You will assist in planning, directing, and delivering USDA/CACFP approved services for children, families, and staff in a tribal setting.

Responsibilities include meal prep, safe food handling, education, and collaboration with teachers. A high school diploma, Head Start knowledge, and ServSafe/food handler certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nutrition Services or related field.
• Experience with Tribal programs or communities preferred.
• Ability to work with people from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Current Food Handler’s permit and ServSafe certification.
• Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and USDA/CACFP program.
• Willingness to pass background checks and required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality delivery of nutrition services to ECLC enrolled children.
• Assist with preparation of nutritious meals and snacks.
• Deliver meal components to classrooms and ensure proper serving sizes.
• Provide nutrition education to children and families.
• Maintain sanitation and proper food storage and labeling.
• Assist with menu reviews and substitutions for dietary needs.
• Participate in parent meetings to provide food and nutrition education.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid and Food Handler’s certification.
• Support recruitment of families and promote parent involvement.
