Job summary

Cortland in Leesburg, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our residential community safe, functional, and well-maintained by diagnosing and repairing building systems. You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to emergencies, and document work with professional resident service.

EPA certification required; HS diploma; 1–3+ years in maintenance or multi-family housing; strong technical and communication skills; on-call availability and physical work in varying conditions

Qualifications

• EPA certification required (Type I, II, or Universal).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3+ years of maintenance/facilities/multi-family housing experience.
• Strong technical skills in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, and general building systems.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and handle multiple work orders.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to safely operate tools and maintenance equipment.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Physically capable: lifting, ladders, outdoors/indoor work; on-call readiness.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and resolve issues involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, flooring, stairs, railings, and other building components.
• Address unsafe conditions quickly and safely (lights, gates, holes, hazards).
• Monitor and report on condition of building and security systems (doors, cameras).
• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC units and building systems.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and parts for timely work orders.
• Respond to on-call rotations and emergencies for residents and property needs.
• Provide friendly, professional service to residents and team members.
• Document completed work and report recurring issues to supervisor.
