Job summary

Harbor Group Management Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician to uphold the property's physical integrity and appearance. You will perform routine maintenance, respond to resident service requests, and support safe, efficient operations across the property.

Ideal candidates have one year of general maintenance experience, HVAC certification preferred, and a valid driver's license. This is a non-exempt, on-site role located in Chesapeake, VA, offering comprehensive benefits and growth

Qualifications

• One year of general maintenance experience (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, or appliance repair).
• HVAC certification preferred; EPA Type I & II or Universal for refrigerant handling.
• Multifamily (apartment) maintenance experience highly desired.
• Available for emergency on-call, including evenings and weekends.
• Valid driver's license required (for golf cart operation if applicable).
• Customer-service oriented with professional resident interaction.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety guidelines.
• Any other certifications as required by local and state laws.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical and mechanical maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, appliance repair and glass replacement.
• Respond to resident service requests promptly using a work order system.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure safe operation of the property.
• Prepare vacant units for new residents by inspections, punch lists, and coordinating contractors.
• Maintain amenity areas and common spaces through cleaning, trash removal, pressure washing, and painting.
• Manage tools, materials, inventory, and notify supervisors when reorders are needed.
• Repair rather than replace parts to control costs and use resources efficiently.
• Attend safety meetings and OSHA trainings; report incidents accurately.
• Inspect vendor/contractor work for quality and scope compliance.
• Assist in property inspections to identify maintenance needs.
