Job summary

Patch Caregiving is seeking an on-call substitute teacher to manage a play-based, multi-age care room for children ages 2-12. You will lead activities, implement curriculum, and communicate with parents while maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging space.

Shifts are two daily blocks, 5-11 am and 11 am-5 pm, Monday–Friday. This is a long-term, ongoing role with a flexible, part-time schedule and potential use of a scheduling tool for shift confirmations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year experience as Lead Teacher in daycare/preschool.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate learning.
• Experience with diapering and toilet training.
• Strong communication with children and parents.
• First Aid & CPR certification (or ability to obtain before start).
• Some sites require TB/test and immunization records.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and wellbeing of all children in the care room.
• Lead age-appropriate activities and manage group dynamics with empathy and skill.
• Communicate regularly with parents and handle emergencies calmly.
• Plan and implement curriculum and hands-on activities.
• Maintain records, paperwork, and a clean, organized space.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers and the Center Director.
• Participate in ongoing training and occasional enrollment/outreach events.
