Job summary

Patch Caregiving is seeking a kind, motivated on-call substitute teacher to manage our play-based, multi-age care room in Arlington, TX. You will care for children ages 2-12, lead activities, communicate with parents, and keep the space safe and fun.

This part-time, variable-schedule role requires flexibility, with shifts Monday-Friday as needed. Start times vary; you may be scheduled the Friday before the following week. We offer on-going coverage with weekly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of Lead Teacher experience in daycare/preschool.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate learning.
• Experience with diapering toddlers.
• Support toilet training across ages.
• Strong communication with children and parents.
• Patience with challenging behaviors; positive approach.
• Comfort with digital tools for parent/staff updates.
• First Aid & CPR certification (we can support completion).
• Some sites require drug/TB tests and immunization records.
• Some states require background checks/fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and wellbeing of all children in the care room.
• Lead age-appropriate activities and manage group dynamics with empathy and skill.
• Communicate regularly with parents and handle emergencies calmly.
• Plan and implement curriculum and hands-on activities.
• Maintain records and a clean, organized space.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers and the Center Director.
• Participate in ongoing training and enrollment/outreach events.
