Job summary

WestCana is seeking a reliable and motivated Float Maintenance Technician to join our team on a casual, on-call basis. If you take pride in maintaining safe, comfortable environments and enjoy making a difference in the lives of seniors, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance and minor repairs on building systems, inspections of equipment, responding to maintenance requests, and keeping records while ensuring health, safety, and environmental regulations are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous facility maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid WHMIS certification upon hire (maintained annually).
• Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
• Ability to pass and maintain a clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check (upon hire and every 5 years thereafter).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on building systems (plumbing, painting, carpentry etc.)
• Conduct inspections of equipment and facilities to identify issues
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management
• Maintain records of repairs and maintenance activities
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Assist with moving furniture, setting up equipment, and other general facility tasks
