Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation in Fort Mill, SC is seeking a Line Apprentice to learn the distribution system operations while supporting service delivery to customers. You will learn computer systems, tools, equipment, and material use and be on-call to support outages or emergencies.

The role is based at multiple operation centers with requirement of a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma; lineman or technical line certificates are advantageous and field experience is valued.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Valid driver's license required.
Certificate from Lineman’s Training School preferred.
Certificate from Technical School Line program preferred.
Military experience and electric utility exposure are an advantage.
Experience near power lines and in storm response is beneficial.
Willingness to relocate within 12 months and reside within 40 minutes of site.

Responsibilities

Installs and repairs electrical equipment such as street lighting and load control devices.
Constructs overhead and underground distribution lines per engineering specs.
Installs transformers, capacitors, regulators and related equipment.
Performs preventative maintenance using test equipment (volt/amp meters).
Responds to trouble calls and outages plus emergency situations.
