Dedicated School Staffing is seeking a dependable Substitute Library/Media Aide for Avon Lake City Schools. This on-call, part-time role supports daily library operations, assists students and staff, handles circulation, and helps with instructional activities.

The position emphasizes reading promoting environments, basic research help, and safe use of technology. Requirements include 18+ years old, a high school diploma, and state-appropriate aide credentials.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid educational aide permit or higher teaching license as required by state.
• Clean background checks and reliable, responsible conduct.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new tools quickly.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 25 lbs and standing/walking during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with opening, organizing, and maintaining the library/media center during scheduled hours.
• Manage circulation tasks: check-in/check-out, shelving, and displays.
• Monitor student use of library spaces, computers, and equipment.
• Provide basic guidance to students in locating books and using the catalog.
• Support classroom groups with library/media-related tasks and materials.
• Set up audiovisual equipment for classes or events when needed.
• Assist with read-alouds, book talks, and literacy activities as directed.
