Job summary

Dept Behavioral Health/Develop seeks a Zone Mechanic III / HVAC Technician at Central State Hospital in Petersburg, VA. You will perform skilled maintenance, installation, and repairs of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and support zone mechanics with related trades.

You must have HVAC/Journeyman license in VA, EPA 608, and a VA driver’s license, with hands-on commercial/industrial HVAC experience.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience in commercial or industrial HVAC installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Valid Virginia driver’s license.
EPA Section 608 Universal certification.
State of Virginia HVAC or Journeyman license.

Responsibilities

Perform skilled maintenance, installation and repairs of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and related control systems.
Maintain Zone Mechanics duties including carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing tasks to keep zones in working order.
Assess potential problems and hazards to prevent impairments in assigned Zone assets.
Enter time, materials, tasks and completion data for work orders in the system.
Update system as work completed for current shift.
Ensure daily total does not exceed 7.5 hours unless OT is authorized.
Maintain service records, work orders, requisitions and other records.
Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment and related systems.
Handle weather-related duties including snow and ice removal; on-call after hours and holidays.
