Job summary

Puget Sound Home Health & Hospice is seeking a Part-time On‑call After‑Hours Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high‑quality nursing care across King and Pierce counties in Washington. The role offers a flexible schedule with on-call nights and requires strong assessment and independent decision‑making.

The ideal candidate will hold a Washington State RN license with hospice experience, have current BLS certification, and possess a reliable vehicle.

Qualifications

• Active WA RN license with hospice experience required.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Ability to work independently during evening, night, and early-morning hours.
• Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license required.
• Experience with triage, pain management, and symptom control in hospice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver after-hours hospice nursing visits and urgent care interventions.
• Manage triage calls and determine needed interventions.
• Complete in-person visits as required.
• Provide pain and symptom management per hospice standards.
• Educate patients and families on hospice philosophy and care expectations.
• Document assessments and interventions accurately.
• Communicate with the IDT to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in QAPI and quality improvement initiatives.

Puget Sound Home Health & Hospice is expanding, and we are seeking an experienced Part‑time On‑call After‑Hours Hospice RN to provide high‑quality after‑hours hospice nursing care across King and Pierce counties.

Position

On‑call, After‑Hours Hospice Registered Nurse (RN)

Flexible Schedule

Monday 5:00 PM – Thursday 8:00 AM OR Saturday & Sunday 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM both nights

Territory

Thurston, Grays Harbor, and Mason County, Washington

Compensation

$200–300 per night, DOE; $65–80 per visit, DOE

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver after‑hours hospice nursing visits, urgent care interventions, and skilled assessments
• Manage triage calls, determine needed interventions, and complete in‑person visits as required
• Provide pain and symptom management in accordance with hospice standards of care
• Educate patients and families on hospice philosophy, medications, and care expectations
• Document all assessments and interventions accurately and efficiently
• Communicate promptly with the interdisciplinary hospice team (IDT) to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in QAPI and quality improvement initiatives as needed

Qualifications

• Hospice agency experience required
• Current AHA BLS certification
• Strong clinical assessment and independent decision‑making skills
• Ability to work autonomously during evening, night, and early‑morning hours
