Job summary

Hospice of the Midwest is seeking an On-Call Registered Nurse to serve Edina and Monticello areas. This part-time role offers 1:1 patient care during off-hours, with responsibilities including symptom management, med administration, and family support.

Prior hospice experience and current RN licensure are preferred; CPR as required. Schedule includes on-call shifts with potential variability based on patient needs and events.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current licensure to practice in state of operation
• 1 year nursing experience required, 3+ years preferred
• Experience in hospice or a similar setting preferred
• Knowledge of hospice care philosophy and documentation excellence
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle; CPR certification as required

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 care to hospice patients on-call
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately
• Administer medications or adjust care per hospice protocols or orders
• Communicate changes with physician and obtain orders as necessary
• Guide patients and families in understanding conditions and next steps
• Pronounce death when occurring during on-call hours and notify hospice team
• Complete timely documentation and communication
