Job summary

Ohio’s Hospice in Dayton, Ohio is seeking a compassionate Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families receiving hospice care. This PRN, on-call position requires coverage between 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM on varied days.

The Chaplain will develop meaningful relationships, assess needs, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, document services, and travel to patient homes as needed.

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological degree preferred.
• CPE: Four units preferred; minimum of one unit toward completion.
• Board certified, certification eligible, or actively working toward certification through APC, BCC-HPCC, NACC, or NAJC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and families.
• Establish, develop, and maintain compassionate relationships with patients, families, and caregivers.
• Assess spiritual and emotional needs and provide individualized support.
• Provide spiritual care, counseling, presence, prayer, or rituals according to patient beliefs.
• Support patients and families through end-of-life, grief, and transitions.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to support holistic care.
• Communicate needs with care team and document services timely.
