Hospice of Dayton, Inc. in Dayton, OH is seeking a compassionate Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families receiving hospice care.

This PRN, on-call role covers hours between 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM on varied days. You will develop meaningful relationships, assess needs, offer counsel, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to honor diverse beliefs and wishes.

Qualifications

  • Master of Divinity or equivalent theological degree required or preferred.
  • Ordained or commissioned minister with ecclesiastical endorsement preferred.
  • Board certified, certification eligible, or actively pursuing APC/BCC-HPCC/NACC/NAJC certification preferred.
  • CPE: Four units preferred; minimum of one unit with enrollment toward completion.
  • Three years of current active pastoral ministry or chaplaincy experience.
  • Computer skills sufficient to accurately document services and care.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record and state-required automobile insurance.
  • Ability to safely drive during daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain compassionate relationships with patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Assess spiritual and emotional needs and provide individualized support based on patient and family preferences.
  • Provide appropriate spiritual care, counseling, presence, prayer, ritual, or other support consistent with the patient's beliefs and wishes.
  • Support patients and families as they navigate end-of-life experiences, grief, loss, and transitions.
  • Respect and support diverse faith traditions, spiritual beliefs, and personal values.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to support holistic patient care.
  • Communicate relevant spiritual and psychosocial needs with members of the care team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and patient care.
  • Travel to patient homes, facilities, and other care settings as needed.
  • Participate in on-call coverage and respond to patient and family needs during assigned hours.

Hospice Chaplain – PRN
Make a Meaningful Difference - Ohio’s Hospice is seeking a compassionate and experienced Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families receiving hospice care.

This is a PRN, on-call position with coverage needs between 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM on varied days of the week.

What You’ll Do

  • Three years of current active pastoral ministry or chaplaincy experience.
  • Computer skills sufficient to accurately document services and care.
