Job summary

Ohio's Hospice, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families receiving hospice care in Dayton, OH. This part-time day shift role focuses on meaningful relationships within the IPU Dayton team.

The chaplain will assess needs, provide tailored spiritual care, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary hospice team to support holistic patient care. Candidates should have M.Div.

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological degree preferred.
• Ordained or commissioned minister with ecclesiastical endorsement preferred.
• Board certified, certification eligible, or actively pursuing certification through APC, BCC-HPCC, NACC, or NAJC preferred.
• CPE: Four units preferred; minimum of one unit with enrollment toward completion.
• Three years of current active pastoral ministry or chaplaincy experience.
• Computer skills sufficient to accurately document services and care.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record; state-required automobile insurance.
• Ability to safely drive during daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and families.
• Establish and maintain compassionate relationships with patients, families, and caregivers.
• Assess spiritual and emotional needs and provide individualized support.
• Offer spiritual care, counseling, presence, prayer, ritual, or other support as appropriate.
• Support patients and families through end-of-life, grief, and transitions.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team and communicate needs to care staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services and care.
• Participate in on-call coverage during assigned hours.
