Job summary

Ohio’s Hospice in Dayton, OH is seeking a compassionate Hospice Chaplain for a full-time, Monday–Friday 8am–5pm role. You will provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families across the South Region, traveling to homes and facilities as needed.

You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, document care, and support diverse beliefs while guiding patients through end-of-life journeys with presence, prayer, and ritual according to each person’s wishes.

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity or equivalent theological degree preferred.
• Ordained or commissioned minister with ecclesiastical endorsement preferred.
• Three years of active pastoral ministry or chaplaincy experience.
• Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE): Four units preferred; minimum one unit enrolled toward completion.
• Board certification or active pursuit (APC, BCC-HPCC, NACC, or NAJC) preferred.
• Valid driver's license and insurance; safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families.
• Establish and maintain compassionate relationships with patients and caregivers.
• Assess spiritual needs and provide individualized support.
• Deliver spiritual care, presence, prayer, ritual aligned with beliefs.
• Assist patients and families with end-of-life, grief, and transitions.
• Respect diverse faith traditions and personal values.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary hospice team.
• Communicate needs to the care team and document services accurately.
• Travel to patient homes, facilities, and other care settings; participate in on-call coverage.
