Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Council Bluffs, IA is seeking a Forensic Registered Nurse Examiner to provide compassionate, expert nursing care to sexual assault victims on an on-call basis. This casual schedule requires 5–6 twelve-hour shifts per month and coordination with physicians, law enforcement, and community resources.

Responsibilities include initial assessments, developing care plans, crisis intervention, and ensuring safe, evidence-based care.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred and RN licensed, with BLS required.
• Minimum two years in a related clinical area (ED, OB or Women\'s Health preferred).
• Current RN license, active compact license, or temporary permit as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate nursing care per population criteria.
• Performs initial and ongoing assessments to determine care needs and discharge planning.
• Develops and revises care plans in collaboration with physicians and other clinicians.
• Administers medications safely and monitors effects.
• Provides emotional support and crisis intervention for sexual assault victims and connects to community resources.
• Documents care, communicates changes effectively (SBAR), and ensures safe handoffs.
• Participates in on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour Forensic RN Examiner availability.
