Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an on-call, part-time Field Archaeologist to support our Heritage and Cultural Resources team across multiple offices including Troy, NY, Morristown, NJ, Freeport, ME, Foxborough, MA, North Providence, RI, Glastonbury, CT and more. This role offers potential for long-term work and possible full-time employment depending on workload.

Responsibilities include Phase I/II field testing, pedestrian surveys, shovel tests, unit excavations, detailed note taking, artifact

Qualifications

Undergrad degree in anthropology/archaeology/historic preservation or related field.
Archaeological field school experience required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self‑motivated and physically able to conduct fieldwork in all weather.
Location in the southeast or Missouri and surrounding states preferred; travel possible to other states.

Responsibilities

Assist with field projects during all phases of archaeological testing (Phase I and II).
Perform pedestrian reconnaissance, shovel tests, and test unit excavation under a Field Director.
Document findings with detailed notes and field forms; assist in artifact identification.
Work as part of a team and adhere to safety and conduct policies.
