Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. seeks an on-call Archaeologist in Michigan to support field surveys and monitoring on construction projects. You will perform data collection, record keeping, and reporting under supervision of Field/Project Directors.

The role requires a BA in archaeology or related field, a year of supervised field experience, and valid driver’s license. Familiarity with GPS devices is a plus; strong organization and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic archaeology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of supervised professional field archaeology experience; preference for construction monitoring.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Computer literacy with smartphone and tablet applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform cultural resources monitoring at construction sites to implement mitigation measures.
• Conduct archaeological field surveys.
• Record data for scientific and compliance purposes using company forms and field methods.
• Prepare daily progress/monitoring reports as needed.
• Use GPS equipment (Garmin/Trimble) for field data collection.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
