Job summary

GEI Consultants, an employee-owned engineering and technical consulting firm, seeks a field archaeologist for project-based, hourly on-call work across North America. You will monitor construction activities to mitigate impacts on cultural resources and conduct site surveys under supervision, with data collection and reporting duties throughout projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic archaeology, or related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of supervised professional field archaeology experience, preference for construction monitoring.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Computer literacy with smartphone/tablet applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform cultural resources monitoring at construction sites to implement mitigation measures.
• Conduct archaeological field surveys.
• Record data for scientific and compliance purposes using company forms and established field methodology.
• Prepare daily progress/monitoring reports as needed by the project.
• Use GPS equipment (Garmin/Trimble) and data collection applications for field data collection.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
