Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking On Call Archaeological/Cultural Resource Technicians to support field and desktop tasks along the East Coast. You will assist project managers in cultural resource studies, documentation, and reporting across multiple sites.

Ideal candidates hold a degree in anthropology/archaeology and have field experience. Travel to various sites is expected; qualifications include NHPA/ARPA knowledge and GIS/AutoCAD familiarity.

Qualifications

• Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or related field.
• 1+ years’ prior field related experience.
• Knowledge of NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA and related regulations preferred.
• Hazwoper Certification and annual fit test preferred.
• Familiarity with GIS and AutoCAD preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel, Adobe, Nuance, Word and SharePoint preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel to various job sites and spend most on-site.
• Ability to perform physical labor, sometimes in inclement weather, up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct background research at historical societies, museums, archives and repositories.
• Perform cultural resource documentation and recordation.
• Conduct subsurface testing for presence/absence.
• Execute data recovery excavations.
• Provide construction monitoring to ensure compliance with mitigation measures.
• Conduct records searches at CHRIS information Centers.
• Perform laboratory analysis, catalog and organize artifacts.
• Prepare technical report sections.
• Complete work logs timely and accurately.
• Assemble and maintain field equipment; inspect and troubleshoot as needed.
• Perform additional duties as requested.
