Job summary

DC Government in Washington, DC, seeks a Building & Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to oversee general and preventive maintenance in administrative buildings, schools, and other facilities within the Facilities Management Division of the Department of General Services.

The incumbent is on a 24-hour call, supervises staff, handles repairs in plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and tile, and coordinates work orders.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience: at least 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent.
• DC motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Work performed indoors and outdoors; standing, bending, lifting, and physical exertion.
• Experience with coordinating maintenance in administrative buildings, schools, and other facilities.

Responsibilities

• Open and close schools and facilities as part of daily duties.
• Maintain tools and equipment used in maintenance operations.
• Perform repairs in plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and tile.
• Submit work order requests for items not repairable at the school level.
