Job summary

Mohegan Sun is looking for a Rigging Technician responsible for the operation and maintenance of staging and rigging equipment for entertainment events. Candidates must be skilled in performing load in, set-up, and safety operations at heights over 60 feet.

With at least three years of experience in this field and a strong background in theatrical carpentry, successful applicants will have good communication skills and be able to lift 75 lbs. The position offers flexibility in shift hours.

Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing the load in, set‑up, operation, load out and maintenance of all types of staging, rigging and other related equipment to be used for all entertainment events.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform the load in, set‑up, operation, load out and maintenance of all types of staging, rigging and related equipment for all entertainment events.
  • Unload trucks and set up and tear down touring production elements (build stages, set up boxing rings, set up basketball courts, install temporary ice rinks, etc.).
  • Perform ground, high rigging, and R‑1 events.
  • Maintain, open and close elevated seating units in the arena.
  • Build scenic elements for Entertainment and Special Events departments.
  • Inspect and maintain chain hoist inventory.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and repair metal parts by welding.
  • Drive vans and trucks up to 24 feet in length.
  • Operate forklifts and lift equipment.
  • Assist with training programs.
  • Assist with any and all entertainment production tasks as needed.
Minimum Education and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience working with theatrical staging and rigging equipment, including computer‑based systems.
  • Experience with rigging in an arena environment.
  • Must be able to work at 60 feet or more as a high rigger and operate equipment at 60 feet or more.
  • Experience in theatrical carpentry.
Competencies
  • Good communication skills.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software.
  • Create rigging plots with CAD software and Vectorworks.
Training Requirements
  • Knowledgeable in the operation of professional rigging equipment.
  • Must be certified in the operation of forklifts, motorized pallet jacks, scissor lifts and boom lifts.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend and climb for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and move all necessary equipment up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to work at heights greater than 60 feet.
  • Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours.
