Job summary

City of La Porte is seeking an Emergency Management professional to support plan development, drills, and incident response across city departments. You will assist with updating plans, conducting exercises, and producing After-Action Reports to improve community resilience.

In this role you will coordinate with local agencies, manage documentation, and help maintain COOP and recovery strategies. A Texas Driver’s License and FEMA IS-100/200/700/800/G-300/G-400 certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public administration, or related field preferred.
• Minimum one year emergency management experience required.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
• Certificates: FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, G-300, and G-400 or federal/state equivalents.

Responsibilities

• Review, maintain, and update emergency management plans and documents.
• Assist in drills and exercises to test plans and identify deficiencies.
• Develop and track After-Action Reports and Improvement Plans.
• Review hazard analyses and risk assessments for community needs.
• Develop and maintain COOP and disaster recovery plans.
• Utilize emergency management software to track resources and contacts.
• Maintain records of incidents and response activities.
• Coordinate LEPC activities with industry and public safety partners.
• Attend meetings and trainings to expand resources.
• Develop Incident Action Plans for large events.
• Support EOC activities during emergencies.
• Coordinate city departments for a comprehensive program.
• Engage with local businesses to promote preparedness and resilience.
• Track NIMS training requirements for city personnel.
