On-Call Disaster Recovery Site Inspector

Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking experienced Site Inspectors to support disaster recovery operations across the United States. This on-call role may require field visits, remote assessments, or hybrid arrangements depending on client needs and project requirements.

Responsibilities include documenting damages to infrastructure, coordinating with applicants and stakeholders, and supporting FEMA/Public Assistance recovery programs. Requires travel and valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in building inspection, construction, facility assessment, infrastructure assessment, or related field.
• Experience collecting, documenting, and organizing field-based data.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, mobile data collection applications, cloud-based information systems, and smartphone/tablet technology.
• Ability to travel on short notice as needed.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and desktop-based inspections of facilities and infrastructure impacted by disasters.
• Evaluate and document disaster-related damages to public buildings, roads, bridges, utilities, parks, and drainage systems.
• Capture photographs, measurements, observations, and site conditions for recovery funding programs.
• Document building and site-specific attributes using data collection applications and technology platforms.
• Verify reported damages and support validation of project information.
• Conduct virtual inspections using photographs, videos, and reports when field deployment is not required.
• Collect, organize, and upload inspection data using cloud-based and mobile platforms.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and develop site inspection reports.
• Review inspection reports for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Maintain project documentation per client and QA requirements.
• Track inspections and report completion status through management systems.
• Coordinate site visits with facility representatives, local government staff, and stakeholders.
• Explain inspection requirements and scheduling needs to applicants.
• Maintain professionalism and customer service throughout project delivery.
• Facilitate resolution of issues during inspections and data collection.
