Job summary

Unified Judicial System, Sixth Judicial Circuit, located in Onida or Gettysburg, SD, seeks a temporary, part-time on-call clerk to support the court clerk’s office. The role involves case file maintenance from filing to disposition, scheduling hearings, and providing customer service to the public.

The position is non-benefited, offers 10 hours per week and requires U.S. citizenship, SD residency, and a voting resident within the circuit. A successful background check is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED and one year of general clerical experience.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of South Dakota, and a voting resident within the circuit.

Responsibilities

• Maintain case files from filing to final disposition.
• Assist in scheduling hearings and maintaining court calendars.
• Provide information on court procedures to the public and answer queries.
• Assist in courtrooms with exhibits, minutes, and courtroom technology as needed.
• Perform magistrate duties and other duties as assigned.
• Support the court clerk in absence and handle other related tasks.
