Encompass Community Services is seeking an On-Call Counselor in Santa Cruz, CA. You will cover shifts including swing, night, and weekends to support residents’ safety and goals related to housing, health, and recovery.

The role involves crisis intervention, case management, and coordination with community service providers. Requires independence, valid driver's license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Computer literacy including e‑mail, Microsoft Word, and navigation of EHR documentation.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emails, texts, or phone calls; provide on‑call coverage as needed.
• Ensure safety for residents and property during shifts.
• Address client behavioral or medical issues while on duty.
• Provide therapeutic crisis management with supervisor support.
• Deliver intervention services for mental health or substance use disorders and co‑occurring disorders.
• Assist with evaluation, assessment, counseling, and sessions.
• Dispense medication, complete incident reporting, and handle shift/change reporting.
• Perform safety checks and headcounts; comply with regulations.
• Communicate using case notes and with providers.
