Encompass Community Services in Santa Cruz, CA seeks a full-time Clinical Counselor to provide individual and group counseling within a 16-bed residential program aimed at transitioning clients back to community living.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, evidence-based practices, and collaborative teamwork with clinicians and nursing staff. Requires a high school diploma and relevant residential experience; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year experience in mental health residential programs.
• Proficient computer skills and history of timely completion of tasks.
• Effective written and spoken communication with colleagues and clients.
• Must be able to pass a criminal record clearance and TB screening.

Responsibilities

• Provides supportive individual and group counseling in accordance with funder requirements and evidence-based practices.
• Provides crisis counseling, group counseling, relapse prevention planning, case management, and discharge planning.
• Responsible for implementing residential treatment curriculum with other staff.
• Uses Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Informed Care for clients with co-occurring disorders.
• Documents client services per licensure requirements.
• Collaborates in a multidisciplinary team to coordinate client care.
• Maintains punctual attendance and covers clinical caseload as needed.
