Qualifications

Responsibilities

Location: SantaCruz, CA 95060 • Salary: $23.00 per hour

Overview

The On-Call Counselor is available to work as needed to cover shifts—including swing, night, and weekend shifts—ensuring the safety and well‑being of residents at the facility and supporting program operations. The role focuses on supporting clients in planning and attaining goals related to housing, physical health, chemical dependency, mental health, income stabilization, and community reentry.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Respond to emails, texts, or phone calls in a timely manner and be available for on‑call coverage as needed.
• Ensure adequate safety for residents and property during specific shift hours.
• Respond to client behavioral or medical issues, facility issues, or natural emergencies while on duty.
• Provide therapeutic crisis management with support from the Manager or On‑Call Manager.
• Deliver therapeutic intervention services based on best practices and evidence‑based practices for clients with mental health or substance use disorders and co‑occurring disorders.
• Assist with administrative functions in support of clients—including evaluation, assessment, counseling, and facilitation of individual, group, and crisis counseling sessions.
• Dispense medication, complete incident reporting, shift change reporting, and perform household duties as required.
• Perform general safety checks and headcounts.
• Comply with regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively and use current technology for case notes, incident reports, and correspondence with community service providers.
