Qualifications

• Education and Training: Minimum – GED or High School.
• PreK substitution requires 45 Hour Department of Children and Family Training within first 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform classroom staff member duties in their absence.
• Follow teacher directions and lesson plans to ensure cohesive learning.
• Manage the classroom to promote participation and minimize distractions.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
• Supervise students in all areas (hallways, playground, cafeteria, car line).
• Implement individual behavior plans as needed.
• Assist with basic care and hygiene tasks.
• Coordinate with therapists and multi-disciplinary team.

Job Summary:

The On-Call classroom substitute supports and supervises students in the event that one of the classroom team members is absent.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform classroom staff member duties in their absence.
• Follow direction of the teacher/acting teacher including following lesson plans to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each student.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom including in the halls, on the playground, cafeteria and car line.
• Implement individual behavior plans as needed.
• Ensure and provide basic care giving duties (utilizing universal health and safety precautions) for children, including, but not limited to feeding children, and cleaning children’s hands, faces, etc.
• Assist in communication with therapists and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Maintain positive staff and parent interactions.
• Ensure compliance with requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience:

• 1 year or more childcare or classroom experience
