Job summary

LSU in New Orleans seeks a skilled trades worker to install, maintain, alters, repair and remove electrical fixtures, plumbing fixtures and related systems across the campus. This position may be placed on the On-Call rotation and is considered essential personnel for campus emergencies after hours.

You will read blueprints, use hand and power tools, plan and coordinate tasks, work outdoors in all weather, and support other trades as needed while adhering to safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general maintenance trades techniques.
• Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must have a current driver’s license.
• Ability to lift and move loads of 50 pounds or more.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, alters, repairs and removes electrical fixtures, interior light fixtures, light machinery, electrical outlets and switches.
• Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs plumbing fixtures, toilets, unclog sink/toilet/tub drains.
• Performs preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Performs demolition and construction work on minor projects campus-wide.
• Assists other trades in their duties when needed.
