Job summary

Tumwater School District is seeking a Substitute Building Maintenance Worker to join our district facilities team. You will help maintain and repair district buildings and systems, perform routine tasks, and assist with a range of trades as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Washington driver's license and ability to obtain clearances. The position offers an hourly rate of $29.29 and shifts vary to meet district needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• WA State Driver's license and background clearance required.
• Two years in skilled trades preferred: carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, low voltage, or refrigeration.
• Scissor lift certification desired or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Operate power and hand tools for carpentry, plumbing and low voltage repairs.
• Replace HVAC air filters and light fixtures per maintenance schedules.
• Assist fulltime staff with boiler, pump, and air handling system maintenance.
• Perform cleaning, painting, drywall patching and sign installation as needed.
• Provide building access for contractors and officials during inspections.
• Operate district vehicles and maintain district equipment.
• Assist with warehouse tasks and organization of spaces.
• Support safety procedures and protective measures in all tasks.
