Job summary

Keswick Hall, a luxury boutique hotel at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Banquet Server to join the Food & Beverage team. The role focuses on delivering exceptional service for high-volume banquets and events, including coordinating stations, buffets, and guest interactions.

Ideal candidates will have 0–2 years of banquet serving experience, strong wine and menu knowledge, and a passion for hospitality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–2 years in food & beverage serving, banquet experience preferred.
• Certified in CPR and First Aid (AED).

Responsibilities

• Prepare coffee breaks, carts and stations with supplies.
• Organize tables, action stations and buffets for service.
• Communicate special meal requests to the kitchen.
• Ensure courses are cleared and crumbed promptly.
• Present tableware neatly for guests.
• Address intoxicated or disruptive guests appropriately.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of service areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

History and spectacular landscapes come together, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Celebrated landmarks, including Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and the University of Virginia, are clustered here among swathes of the East Coast's most beautiful scenery. The region is also home to over 25 wineries, breweries and cideries.

This is the setting for Keswick Hall, an impressive 80-room luxury boutique hotel nestled on 600 acres which recently re-opened in 2021 after renovations. Home to the prestigious Keswick Golf Club, Marigold Restaurant, by Jean-Georges, a new luxury spa and sports and aquatics center.

The Banquet Server is an essential member of the Food & Beverage team dedicated to delivering the best in service.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Prepare coffee breaks, carts and stations with appropriate supplies.
• Organize tables, action stations, buffets, and carts for service.
• Communicate any additional meal requirements or special requests to the kitchen.
• Ensure courses are properly cleared and crumbed in a timely fashion.
• Manage the presentation of tableware so that it is accessible for the guests.
• Recognize and address potential intoxicated disruptive or undesirable guests.
• Monitor cleanliness and proper sanitization of tables, stations and service areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 0-2 years food & beverage serving experience and/or high volume banquet serving experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
• Certified in CPR, First Aid AED
• Strong wine, cocktail and menu knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of food & beverage.
• Strong ability to multi-task and observe entire dining room.
• Strong time management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• The ability to be descriptive and engaging in the presentation.
• Must possess the ability to organize and prioritize.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts as will involve days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to go up and down staircase as well as stoop and bend.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
