Job description

Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is experiencing unprecedented growth. We are looking to hire an On-Call Construction Administrator to work with our Aviation Group during the milder construction months. Hours and length of position will be based on company needs but can run from early spring to early fall as weather permits.

Responsibilities include:

  • Construction administration on airfield pavement, building and electrical systems projects
  • Coordination of survey work and materials testing
  • Representing the owner in monitoring construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications
  • Assisting with progress meetings.

A valid driver's license, overnight stays, and travel will be required.

The hours for this position could vary weekly from zero to 30, potentially sometimes more than 30, and may occasionally exceed 40. This position will be located at various project sites around Michigan and possibly other locations; it is currently an on-call (i.e., no benefits) position but could potentially be converted to a regular, benefits-eligible position.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Associate's degree or higher in civil engineering, electrical engineering, civil technology, construction administration/management, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience with any/all of the following: roadway, airfield, and/or building construction administration/observation; ASTM/AASHTO standard construction testing procedures; grade measuring equipment; reading civil or electrical construction plans and specifications; AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
  • At least 2 applicable certifications.

OR

  • If no degree, must have at least 4 years of relevant experience with any/all of the following: roadway, airfield, and/or building construction administration/observation; ASTM/AASHTO standard construction testing procedures; grade measuring equipment; reading civil or electrical construction plans and specifications; AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
  • At least 2 applicable certifications.
