Job summary

Hubbard Broadcasting in the United States seeks an experienced radio operator to run the control board during live and recorded broadcasts. You will manage music, features, ads, and weather updates while maintaining sound quality and log accuracy.

Responsibilities include operating and troubleshooting broadcast equipment, monitoring systems, and delivering on-air reports during emergencies. Flexibility for odd hours and weekend shifts is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent; 1 year radio board experience preferred.
• Ability to respond quickly in crises and manage last-minute changes.
• Clear verbal and written communication with coworkers and callers.
• Ability to hear/speak clearly and follow directions.
• Ability to think quickly and articulate information on air.
• Ability to learn automation and broadcasting systems.
• Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and telecommunications operations.

Responsibilities

• Run the board and manage music, features, billboards, commercials during live or recorded programs.
• Operate and troubleshoot radio equipment used in production of live or recorded broadcasts.
• Ensure technical perfection and control sound quality and levels on air.
• Monitor monitors and manage outgoing audio levels and schedules.
• Follow the program log and note issues on the log.
• Monitor all systems and record any issues or concerns.
• Update severe weather forecasts as needed.
• Go on-air to report emergency information when required.
• Record, edit, or play back sounds as requested.
• Voice and produce news stories/features as needed.
• Answer and screen phone calls during shifts.
• Monitor automation and transmitter controls, including pattern/tower changes.
• Assess emergencies and decide on additional support needs.
• Follow FCC rules and company policies.
