The Ombudsman investigates and resolves complaints, protects residents’ rights, and works to improve the quality of life and quality of care for older adults receiving long-term care services.The salary range for this position is $21/hr. - $23.00/hr. This role is Daylight hours, Monday – Friday. This role will start off as a casual role with mandatory paid training 1.5 hours to 3 hours weekly at the start of November until the start of the permeant full-time position on 01/01/2027.Resident AdvocacyAdvocate for the rights, dignity, and well-being of long-term care residentsEmpower residents to voice concerns and make informed decisionsPromote resident-centered care and self-determinationComplaint Investigation and ResolutionReceive, investigate, and resolve complaints from residents, families, or othersAddress issues related to care quality, resident rights, abuse, neglect, and access to servicesWork collaboratively with facilities while maintaining resident confidentialityMonitoring & Facility VisitsConduct regular, unannounced visits to long-term care facilitiesObserve conditions, policies, and resident interactionsIdentify trends or systematic issues requiring interventionOutreach & EducationEducate residents, families, and facility staff, and the public on resident rights and Ombudsman servicesProvide presentations and training to community groups and stakeholdersRecruit, train, and supervise volunteers and PEERsDocumentation & ReportingMaintain accurate and timely case recordsPrepare reports, statistics, and documentation as required by state and federal guidelinesEnsure compliance with confidentiality and data protection standardsSystem AdvocacyIdentify patterns of systematic problems affecting residentsRecommend policy and procedural changes to improve long-term careKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent communication, interviewing and critical thinking skills, time management, and conflict resolution skillsProficiency with electronic case records and detailed-oriented documentationAbility to work independentlyWorking ConditionsCombination of office and fieldwork, including facility visitsEmotional demands associated with working with vulnerable populations.*Center for Community Resources is a qualifying employer under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
