Job summary

Harvard University Ombuds Office in Cambridge/Boston seeks an Ombuds I to join the Cambridge team. This is a benefits-eligible term position through June 2028 with potential extension. Responsibilities include dispute resolution consultation, coaching, mediation, and community education.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; at least five years in ombudsing or related fields; experience designing and leading trainings. Hybrid schedule, 35 hours/week; visa sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum five years demonstrated experience in ombudsing, conflict resolution, mediation and/or negotiation or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in designing (including relevant computer skills) and conducting trainings.
• Advanced degree preferred; prior ombuds experience in academia is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Dispute resolution consultation, informal mediation, and referrals to resources.
• Provide conflict coaching, shuttle diplomacy and group facilitation.
• Develop and deliver trainings on negotiation and conflict resolution.
• Promote policies, maintain statistics, and support policy analysis.
• Uphold confidentiality, impartiality and professionalism in all interactions.
