Job summary

Merck & Co. seeks an Oligonucleotide Scientist II to support RNAi drug discovery with hands-on synthesis, purification, and characterization of oligonucleotide therapeutics. The role is fully on-site in South San Francisco, CA, for a 12-month contract (W2).

The candidate will work with automated synthesizers and analytical platforms (HPLC, MS) to advance RNAi programs and related modalities, with preference for experience in delivery technologies or bioconjugation in pharma/biotech settings.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Organic Chemistry or related field.
• Hands-on experience with oligonucleotide synthesis and purification.
• Experience with HPLC and Mass Spectrometry for characterization.
• Knowledge of RNAi therapeutics and nucleic acid modalities.
• Experience in large molecule drug discovery or bioconjugation preferred.

Job Title: Oligonucleotide Scientist II

Working Days: Monday to Friday

Duration: 12 months contract (with possible extension)

Terms: Contract W2

Interview Format: One Round (30 minutes) - Local candidates should join the interviews on site, candidates outside of the immediate area may join virtually

SKILLS

• Hands-on expertise in oligonucleotide therapeutics discovery, synthesis, and nucleic acid chemistry to support RNAi drug discovery programs.
• BS/MS degree in Organic Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• Hands-on experience with automated oligonucleotide synthesizers, oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, and characterization techniques.
• Strong experience with analytical platforms including HPLC and Mass Spectrometry for oligonucleotide purification, characterization, and impurity profiling.
• Knowledge of RNAi therapeutics and nucleic acid therapeutic modalities within pharmaceutical or biotechnology research environments.
• Preferred experience in large molecule drug discovery, oligonucleotide delivery technologies, or bioconjugation approaches.
