Job summary

Wave Life Sciences is seeking a motivated co-op student in Lexington, Massachusetts. The role provides exposure to oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, and analysis, with hands-on training on lab techniques and instrumentation.

Organic chemistry or Biochemistry lab experience is preferred, and strong PPE adherence is essential. Responsibilities include reagent prep, purification, oligo synthesis, TFF operations, and data analysis using ELN and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reagents and column packing for oligo synthesis.
• Prepare buffers, clean and sanitize equipment.
• Purify oligonucleotides.
• Prepare oligonucleotide synthesis and handle amidites.
• Quantitate oligos using spectrophotometers.
• Perform Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) on purified oligos.
• Operate automated synthesizers, purifiers, TFF systems, and lyophilizers.
• Analyze samples by UPLC and LC-MS.
• Use Excel for data processing, analysis and interpretation.
• Document experiments in ELN and maintain batch records.
• Maintain inventory.

The co-op will gain exposure to oligonucleotide synthesis, chromatographic purification, tangential flow filtration (TFF), and analysis. Co-ops are trained on laboratory techniques and instrumentation. Organic chemistry or Biochemistry laboratory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Reagent preparation & column packing for oligo synthesis
• Buffer preparation, cleaning, and sanitization of equipment
• Purification of oligonucleotides
• Oligonucleotide synthesis preparation and handling of amidites
• Oligo quantitation using spectrophotometers
• Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) of purified oligos
• Operate automated oligonucleotide synthesizers, purifiers, TFF systems, and lyophilizers
• Analyze oligonucleotide samples by UPLC and LC-MS
• Use Excel spreadsheets for data processing, analysis, and interpretation
• Document experiments in an electronic notebook (ELN)
• Batch record review
• Inventory maintenance
