Job summary

Greenheck Group in Tulsa, OK is seeking a weld operator to read blueprints, set up and operate welding equipment, and follow SOPs to produce quality assemblies.

You will participate in safety programs, wear PPE, and learn SAP/MII/MES processes while contributing to daily production goals.

This entry-level role requires a HS diploma or GED, 12+ months manufacturing exp preferred, and the ability to pass a welding test.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 12+ months prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Ability to pass welding test on material in use.
  • Ability to distinguish the various thickness and types of materials.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Proficient reading of measuring devices.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret shop floor paperwork prior to assembly.
  • Read and follow drawings, SOPs, blueprints, and/or weld specifications.
  • Set up and operate equipment effectively and safely.
  • Maintain consistent quality technique in welding operator level jobs and fittings.
  • Correct excessive weld spatter and repair cosmetic defects.
  • Correct porosity within welds.
  • Perform operator-level cleaning and maintenance for their area.
  • Conform to safety guidelines and wear PPE.
  • Support daily and monthly production goals and targets.
  • Learn SAP/ MII / MES processes.
  • Demonstrate reliability and ownership of assigned processes.
  • Identify work via SAP or MII work center priority.
  • Perform physical material movements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace (5S/lean).
  • Cross-train within department and be flexible.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Perform the following with limited supervision:

  • Review and interpret shop floor paperwork prior to assembly
  • Read and follow drawings, SOPs, blueprints, and/or weld specifications
  • Set up and operate equipment effectively and safely
  • Maintain consistent quality technique in welding operator level jots and fit ups on multiple material types and using multiple welding applications
  • Correct for excessive weld spatter and repair cosmetic defects
  • Correct porosity within welds
  • Perform operator-level cleaning and maintenance for their assigned area
  • Conform to all safety guidelines while performing duties and operating equipment
  • Wear the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for the position
  • Support daily and monthly production goals and targets
  • Utilize SOPs and Standard Work Instructions to complete work
  • Contribute to safety and process improvement initiatives
  • Learn SAP/ MII / MES Processes
  • Demonstrate reliability and ownership of assigned processes
  • Identify work to be performed via SAP or MII work center priority
  • Perform physical material movements
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with 5S and lean initiatives
  • Cross-train within department
  • Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible in areas they are cross-trained in
  • Help train new production team members as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
No QUALIFICATIONS
  • HS Diploma or GED preferred
  • 12+ months prior manufacturing experience preferred
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Ability to pass welding test on material in use
  • Ability to distinguish the various thickness and types of materials
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High focus on quality and safety
  • Proficient math, reading, and computer skills
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
  • Demonstrates proficiency in understanding and correcting the seven variables of welding
  • Experience reading measuring devices
  • Intermediate skills in use basic, pneumatic, and power tools
  • Ability to safely operate equipment, which may include material movement equipment such as overhead lifting devices, forklifts, etc.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check, if offered employment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; possess physical strength and stamina to remain in stationary/standing position for prolonged periods; use hands and fingers for potentially repetitive handling, gripping, and manipulating product, tools, and equipment; position oneself to complete work including bending, balancing, twisting, rotating, stooping, climbing, moving over uneven surfaces; push, pull and reach; and lift, carry, move or position objects up to 50 pounds regularly. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to operating machinery with moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, forklift and crane operations, and vibration as well as varied exposure to noise. Personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed footwear required. Additional PPE may be required based upon work. This is a safety-sensitive position, and impairment while performing the tasks or duties of this role could pose a health and safety risk to both the individual performing the tasks as well as those around them. Dependent upon location, the facility may or may not be a climate-controlled plant which could result in varied hot and cold temperatures swings at times.
