Job summary

Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe seeks an experienced program supervisor for Maajiigin Center to oversee daily classroom operations and foster an environment where Ojibwe language is learned and spoken. You will build nurturing relationships with children and families to ensure a culturally relevant, high-quality educational experience.

You will collaborate with the Maajiigin team, support leadership development, and mentor staff while maintaining licensing compliance and community partnerships.

Qualifications

• An Early Childhood Certificate or CDA with experience working with Infant & Toddler children.
• AA degree in Early Childhood Development is preferred.
• Must be willing to obtain an AA degree in Early Childhood Development within 3 years of employment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills required, supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be able to pass the Leech Lake Licensing Standards.
• Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
• Ability to model best practice for mentees and apply professional knowledge to work with adult learners.
• Possess understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture and communities.
• Experience in establishing and maintaining positive, trusting, and supportive relationships.
• Must be able to use a computer to develop Word documents, charts, and letters, research information, and use web-based programs.
• Ability to handle diverse work problems and set priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Communicate effectively with Tribal and non-tribal community agencies.
• Manage time and resources with minimal supervision.
• Native American Preference and strong attendance are valued.
• Ability to mentor mentees with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Administration: attain and impart Anishinaabe knowledge, values, and language to families and staff.
• Ojibwe Language: Create space for speaking and learning Ojibwe.
• Classroom: Lead staff, develop routines, and ensure developmentally appropriate practices.
• Families: Build ongoing relationships and regular communication with families.
• Professional Development: Identify goals and plan professional growth with the Maajiigin team.
• Physical Requirements: be outdoors year-round and meet health/safety standards.
