Job summary

Hilcorp Energy Company is seeking a field operator to monitor and operate wells and surface equipment, including pumps, valves, tanks, and gas compressors, while maintaining a safe work environment. The role involves inspecting equipment, recording readings, and performing daily/8-day reports across potentially multiple fields.

You will open/close valves, perform routine maintenance, adhere to SPCC, and train junior staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years minimum oilfield experience.
• Ability to work established work schedule.
• Requires less supervision in the performance of routine duties.
• Understanding how the oil/gas facility components work together.
• Ability to work unsupervised and anticipate issues before impact.
• Operate the facility safely and keep accurate records.
• Direct and train lower-ranked colleagues when needed.
• Maintain effective working relationships with staff and public.
• Consider safety in all decisions.

Responsibilities

• Gauges and records tanks and gas meters.
• Opens and closes valves and tank hatches.
• Inspects equipment for safety problems and recommends repairs.
• Reads gauges to determine flow rates and tank levels.
• Operates pumps and related communication devices.
• Maintains logs of readings, tests, and adjustments.
• Completes daily and periodic reports for management.
• Follows SPCC plan when needed.
• Shuts down equipment as directed in emergencies.
• May work at multiple fields.
