Job summary

National Oilfield Services LLC is seeking an Oilfield Apprentice Electrician to support licensed electricians in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems across oilfield sites. This hands-on role offers field experience under supervision, with emphasis on safety and learning.

The position requires physical fitness, willingness to work outdoors, and the ability to travel to well sites and production facilities. CDL is a plus, prior oilfield exposure preferred.

Oilfield Apprentice Electrician Job Summary

The Oilfield Apprentice Electrician assists licensed electricians with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment used in oil and gas production operations. This position provides hands-on electrical experience while working under the supervision and direction of a Journeyman or Master Electrician.

The Apprentice Electrician will work primarily in field environments, including well sites, tank batteries, production facilities, yards, and other oilfield locations. The position requires a strong commitment to electrical safety, willingness to learn, and the ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor conditions.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist Journeyman and Master Electricians with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of oilfield electrical systems and equipment.
• Learn to diagnose electrical problems using electrical drawings, schematics, manuals, meters, and other testing equipment.
• Assist with the installation and repair of electrical systems supporting pumping units, electric motors, saltwater disposal systems, production equipment, and other oilfield equipment.
• Assist with installing and maintaining motor controls, starters, disconnects, control panels, electrical panels, switches, and related equipment.
• Install conduit, wiring, cable, junction boxes, electrical enclosures, and other electrical components under appropriate supervision.
• Assist with terminating and connecting electrical wiring and equipment as permitted based on experience, training, and supervision.
• Learn proper installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures for low- and medium-voltage electrical systems.
• Assist qualified personnel with overhead electrical work involving power poles, transformers, transformer banks, line fuses, and associated equipment when authorized.
• Assist with setting poles, running electrical lines, and installing electrical equipment at well sites and production facilities.
• Learn to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and electrical plans.
• Use electrical meters and testing equipment under appropriate supervision.
• Assist with identifying electrical hazards and reporting equipment or systems requiring repair or replacement.
• Follow all company electrical safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout/Tryout (LOTO) requirements.
• Perform job hazard assessments and verify appropriate safety precautions are in place before beginning work.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and electrical safety equipment.
• Maintain tools, electrical equipment, service vehicles, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Assist with estimating materials, gathering supplies, and preparing equipment needed for electrical projects.
• Safely operate or assist with the operation of forklifts, man lifts, bucket trucks, augers, and other equipment when properly trained and authorized.
• Assist with fabrication and installation of brackets, supports, and framework associated with electrical installations.
• Work closely with production personnel, pumpers, roustabouts, mechanics, and other field employees to complete projects and resolve equipment issues.
• Participate in required electrical, oilfield, equipment, and safety training.
• Respond to after-hours or emergency call‑outs as required.
• Travel between well sites, production facilities, yards, and other company locations as needed.
• Perform other duties and electrical projects as assigned by the Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, or Electrical Supervisor.

Oilfield Apprentice Electrician Job Qualifications

• Registered Electrical Apprentice or ability to obtain required Apprentice Electrician registration.
• Previous electrical, construction, industrial, oilfield, or mechanical experience preferred but not required.
• Strong interest in developing a career as an industrial/oilfield electrician.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and power tools preferred.
• Ability and willingness to learn electrical troubleshooting, motor controls, production equipment, and oilfield electrical systems.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely under the supervision of licensed electrical personnel.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and oilfield conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working at heights.
• Must be comfortable working around oilfield production equipment, electrical equipment, and heavy machinery.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
• Ability to travel to field locations and respond to call‑outs when necessary.
• Must follow all company safety policies and applicable electrical safety requirements.
• CDL and experience operating bucket trucks or other commercial equipment are a plus.
